About this Piece
Built of heat formed High Density Polyethylene, these pauldrons provide rugged protection in full contact rattan sword fighting combat or LARPing. Differing from our standard pauldrons these feature a wider base plate & a crescent shaped plate attached by solid copper rivets and extending upwards to protect against rising shots to the neck or head. Our armor is assembled with 550 test para-cord and has flexible gap free articulation between all of the plates. The pictured 3 lames version extends down the arm providing good rearbrace protection that can be easily adjusted by knotting the para-cord as you may wish. There are mounting points on the pauldron plate for easy attachment to your body harness or costume. These wear well on a leather jacket. All edges have been heat treated to give a smooth and safe rounding. This armor is entirely compression rivet free. Failures are rare & easy to fix. Fight all day. It is designed for speedy armoring up and down. Although light in weight, these pauldrons are nearly indestructible and extraordinarily tough. Although some areas ask that exposed plastic be covered in tournaments, this armor exceeds all known world standards for protection.
This armor has been extremely popular and we previously had it listed with only the standard 3 plate variety that is a good balance between mobility and protection. But because tastes and needs differ we have closed that auction and re-listed it with this larger variety of options for the number of lames included with this armor. Most fighters go with the standard set of 3 lames. But because of the popularity of a full upper arm coverage, we are now offering both more and less as may suit the fighter who will wear them. Please note that the variations in price also reflect the changes in shipping weight and overall eBay and PayPal commission which affects our cost to get it to you.
Arm Coverage Table
- plate - minimal arm protection - A single plate lame is attached to the pauldron - goes over the shoulder joint.
- plates - light arm protection - Two lame plates go a bit further down the arm.
- plates - standard arm protection - This is what we could consider typical upper arm coverage.
- plates - extended arm protection - For fighters who want a bit more of their rearbrace area protected this configuration goes nearly to the elbow.
- plates - full arm protection - This extends the lames all the way down to the elbow on most fighters.
Optional Straps
The optional shoulder straps are two indexed pieces of leather upon which can be mounted the pauldrons by way of para-cord or rivets. These are intended for use with a breastplate or similar armor/garment. You may also attach the pauldrons directly to a sturdy garment like a leather or canvas jacket.
