Sturdy Rubber Spear Head or Butt Spike

This is a goodly PoleAxe Hammer Head or Spear Tip/Butt Spike designed specifically for SCA and WMA heavy combat.  Made of a heavy vulcanized rubber it is extremely tough and nearly indestructible given it's single piece stout injection molded construction.  These have been designed to be deliver a telling blow while at the same time have a moderating crush space that eases the severity of the blow for the safety of the recipient.  These designs are reasonably well accepted through the Known Worlde however some Kingdoms will require addition padding along the striking surface.  Consult with your marshal or safety office to ensure conforming and safe use with your specific activity.  Please see essential mounting instructions below.  (very important).

WMA Standards

The tip can be used effectively as a spear-point, giving more precise play than the larger padded heads.

Our rubber weapons ares designed for students of historical fighting forms and tournament combatants who are looking to explore the weapon without the risk inherent in any metal or wooden version.

Currently the tips are available only in a WMA version, as the SCA rules require a much larger surface area for the head itself and a larger amount of direct compression (as opposed to bend).

The spike features a compression-fit 1" mounting hole that will fit on round, square or octagonal ash poles commonly used in Western martial arts weapons

Dimensions

The spike is 7 1/2" overall and is ball tipped by a 1" diameter end.  It is designed to allow for a flexible stab.  Because the tip is sized less than the minimum 1 1/4", it is not compliant with SCA standards.  While this is primarily intended to be used for WMA, it may be possible to add sized and padding to make the tip an safe and acceptable spear tip in the context of SCA combat. Weight is 5 oz.

Appearance

In appearance, they are a mostly smooth black surface.  They're specifically designed and manufactured for SCA combat, with a large dollar investment and many hours invested in design, mold costs, and prototype runs.  If you haven't seen one, you haven't seen anything like it.

Mounting Instructions -- Very Important

We recommend that these be installed onto a shaft JUST SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE HOLE.  Carefully mounting onto measured 1 1/8" rattan will work well, but do not use any larger.  You will certainly damage the head by forcing it onto the overlarge shaft.  WE ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY SAY THIS IS A BAD IDEA.  Don't do it, you have been warned.
